Dr. Fliesser’s Clinical Experience

In over twenty years of clinical practice, Dr. Fliesser has  treated a wide variety of forensic as well as general patients.  His patients include people who have been adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity.  Their crimes have ranged from non-violent to violent felonies, including armed robbery, kidnapping and murder (including serial and mass murders). He has also restored numerous defendants to competence to proceed in criminal matters.

As an Attending Psychiatrist  he has treated numerous patients  hospitalized with major psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, bipolar affective disorder (i.e., manic-depressive illness), major depressive disorder with psychosis and numerous other conditions.

He has extensive experience in the outpatient setting treating patients with a wide range of anxiety disorders (including panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and post-traumatic stress disorder) mood disorders (such as bipolar affective disorder) as well as psychotic disorders.  His outpatient experience also includes the development and implementation of the AOT (Assisted Outpatient Treatment, or Involuntary Outpatient Commitment) program in the borough of the Bronx in New York City.

His broad clinical practice experience  provides a solid base for expert medical opinions on medicolegal questions.  The specific types of forensic evaluations  done in his practice are discussed in the next section, Types of Evaluations Performed.
